Pickle Recruits Retinoblastoma Related 1 to Control Lateral Root Formation in Arabidopsis

چکیده
Lateral root (LR) formation is an example of a plant post-embryonic organogenesis event. LRs are issued from non-dividing cells entering consecutive steps formative divisions, proliferation and elongation. The chromatin remodeling protein PICKLE (PKL) negatively regulates auxin-mediated LR through mechanism that not yet known. Here we show PKL interacts with RETINOBLASTOMA-RELATED 1 (RBR1) to repress the LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES-DOMAIN 16 (LBD16) promoter activity. Since LBD16 function required for division founder cells, repression mediated by PKL–RBR1 complex formation. Inhibition counteracted auxin, indicating that, in addition transcriptional responses, fine-tuned process also controlled at level auxin-signaling dependent manner.

Armadillo-related proteins promote lateral root development in Arabidopsis.
Armadillo/beta-catenin and related proteins have important functions during animal and Dictyostelium development, regulating cell differentiation, proliferation, and adhesion. Armadillo-repeat-containing proteins also exist in plants, but the majority have unknown roles. The Arabidopsis genes that show greatest sequence homology to Armadillo/beta-catenin are called ARABIDILLO-1 and -2. Here, we...
متن کاملDissecting Arabidopsis lateral root development.
Recent studies in the model plant Arabidopsis provide new insight into the regulation of root architecture, a key determinant of nutrient- and water-use efficiency in crops. Lateral root (LR) primordia originate from a subset of pericycle founder cells. Sophisticated mass-spectroscopy-based techniques have been used to map the sites of biosynthesis of auxin and its distribution in Arabidopsis s...
متن کاملArabidopsis thaliana RALF1 opposes brassinosteroid effects on root cell elongation and lateral root formation
Rapid alkalinization factor (RALF) is a peptide signal that plays a basic role in cell biology and most likely regulates cell expansion. In this study, transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana lines with high and low levels of AtRALF1 transcripts were used to investigate this peptide's mechanism of action. Overexpression of the root-specific isoform AtRALF1 resulted in reduced cell size. Conversely, AtR...
متن کاملCLE-like (CLEL) peptides control the pattern of root growth and lateral root development in Arabidopsis.
CLE peptides, named for the CLV3/ESR-related peptide family, participate in intercellular-signaling pathways. Here we investigated members of the CLE-like (CLEL) gene family that encode peptide precursors recently designated as root growth factors [Matsuzaki Y et al. (2010) Science 329:1065-1067]. CLEL precursors share a similar domain structure with CLE precursors (i.e., they contain a putativ...
متن کاملRETINOBLASTOMA-RELATED protein stimulates cell differentiation in the Arabidopsis root meristem by interacting with cytokinin signaling.
Maintenance of mitotic cell clusters such as meristematic cells depends on their capacity to maintain the balance between cell division and cell differentiation necessary to control organ growth. In the Arabidopsis thaliana root meristem, the antagonistic interaction of two hormones, auxin and cytokinin, regulates this balance by positioning the transition zone, where mitotically active cells l...
